ABOUT ME
|
I currently teach film and digital photography and am the Department Leader for the Fine Arts department. I attended a private university in Utah, where I earned a Bachelors in Fine Arts. I did my student teaching abroad in a little village in Colonial Juarez, Mexico. Since then I have taken courses to become ELL and GATE certified. I am currently enrolled at Grand Canyon University and am working to complete a Masters in Educational Administration.

ART WORK & PROJECTS
In September of 2016, I was contacted by Amazon with an idea to have students help create a mural for the local fulfillment center. The size of the mural would be 40 feet tall and 500 feet long. This was a massive undertaking that took over a year to plan and pull off. I worked to develop a concept that represented the company and the community, set up an art contest for the high school students, selected the finalists, and then put it all together in photoshop, and then worked with a local printer to create the final product that is located inside the facility. It is one of my "biggest" accomplishments and I enjoyed working with a team of students, and am very proud of how the final product turned out.
SCHOOL OF THE YEAR
In May of 2018, North Valleys High School was nominated for the school of the year competition. I had seen the school transform over the last decade, and was very excited when the principal, Jeana Curtis, asked me to create a two minute video to sum up what makes our school great. With only a week to put everything together, I started by forming a student committee to discuss what the vision for this video would be, and then went to work interviewing and filming clips of students in action. We did end up wining the 1st place award.
NVHS ART FEST
I work with the Fine Arts department to plan an annual event for the community to showcase the hard work of the art students. It includes art, music and theater. In addition to plan the event, I enjoy designing a new promotional flyer each year for the event.

As a teacher of elective classes, I understand the importance of promoting and advocating what we do, and the experiences students have. I put together this video to be shared as students begin the registration process, so they would be aware of the many Fine Art options available at NVHS.
YEARBOOK COVER DESIGNS
I taught yearbook for 10 years, and decided to save money by designing the cover art myself instead of paying for an artist. Each year I worked with the student editors over the summer to come up with a concept, and I would then put their ideas into action. Below are some of my favorite covers.

Web page design. I created and maintain this website for the creator of the Pickles comic strip.
